Sew-a-Long with them...

Today just did some office works... clearance of all the aduans and letters that are piling up on my desk... but still have some that I don't know what to do with them.

Take a rest and bloghopping.. yea!! These are the blogs that I visited today...

TiniHani - this is where it started. Saw this link at my BFF's blog. I like her blog, very inspiring.

Then hop to her friend's blog..

Durra's doodle - I like her tutorials!

and another one..

Nice Craft Sewing Studio - a place to buy Smocking Pleaters!! How I wish to have one, but will I sew one??

and lastly, just to keep in touch...

My CrazyArtZone - I used to visit her not so long ago, lots of good tutorials too.

They are very very inspiring.. make me missing my sewing machine!! But not until I START and FINISH my dissertation, just have to let teh sewing machine stay where it is, except for some repairing jobs.. huhuhu...

This is a motivation, if I want to continue sewing, have to START writing something stupid! Oh, i need a supervisor....

Sewing Day

Saturday morning...
I woke up with a shock that hubby is going for a fishing at Tasik Kenyir!
I wasn't prepared mentally and emotionally.
Plus, I already have my own plan for the weekend, after a loonnnggg week. i.e To spend quality time with the whole family.
So, being frustrated I was, I went for a 15 minutes jogging and 15 minutes stretching at the lake.
After I'd thrown all my anger and used up the bad energy, I felt fresh.
So, I continued shopping for groceries at Mydin. Since I had some balance of the money, I went checked out the newly opened Kamdar, a few blocks away from Mydin.
To my suprise ( a good one!), it's having a good sale and there are quite a haven of cotton! The after sale price was as good as Bandung's. So, I bought (or should I say borong??)....

I can't believe that they have nice design and bright colors for RM3.80/m cotton...

These are Japanese Cotton, after sale (around 40%-50%, I can't really remember), it costs RM11.++/m. Cheap, don't you think so? Will update on what will happen to these pieces... hehehhe

Back at home I immediately start my poject.. the first project..

This bone-shaped big cushion was bought in 2002 during my pregnancy time. I used it to support my belly and legs. When I bought it has no cover. So, it's a bit difficult to clean it. Since I'm so sayang to throw it away, I just dump it at a corner of our room. Hoping that some day I will make a cover for it.

And that some day has come! yeay!!! Introducing new bone-shaped cushion, which is now being loved by everyone in the house!

Sewing Update

Finally my first project is done. Second project too!
I cannot believe that I made those two pieces, but I did! The first one,, which is the big sis's night gown, took me more than 1 week to complete but the second piece, which is the lil sis's peasant dress, only took me 1/2 a day. Very good progress indeed.

I also managed to repair a few old clothes and make them wearable again... I'm so happy with my sewing machine. The next project would be a pyjama for my son and a big bone-shaped cushion cover.

Why pyjama?

Because from pyjama, I can learn making...

1. cutting pants

2. making waist band

3. button holes!!!

Now I have to find some cotton cloth for that.

And a little update of my lil' prince... Dani at 5 months.. learning to turn around...

Good job sayang!

New Toy for New Hobby

this is sewing machine - Epal All-in-one. My mom bought this some several years ago, but never use it. In fact I wonder whether she knows how to use the sewing machine or not. Until she decided to give to my MIL. The machine is so good that you have to learn how to use it, and you need to add some accessories to make full use of it. But my MIL just use it as a normal machine - to make clothes. My bestfriend is addicted into making kid's clothes, that I am now influenced by her. Shame on me, I asked the sewing machine from my MIL...anyway, it is for good cause. She should be proud that finally her menantu yang ganas that rock ini finally is becoming a true mother. I think a complete mother should know how to cook and make clothes for their childrens.
Okay, now I'm going to teach myself how to sew....
1. learn the sewing stuffs' name and their function - needles, bobbins, thread, rulers etc
2. learn type of threading, what they are used for, how to make them on my sewing machine.
3. learn how to take measurement and transfer it onto papers - make design / draft / pola (what do you call that???)
4. learn how to cut cloth
5. learn how to attach the pieces of cloth together and become clothes
6. decorate the clothes! beading works, embroidery (my machine can do this!) etc...
But first of all, I went to Epal center in Puchong, that is the nearest center to my place. I need to send my machine for a good service since it has been tersadai for years... and I need to get some accessories for my new toy.
But my hubby don't trust me at all.. he thinks I'm just hangat2 taik ayam.. but I think sewing is a skill like driving a car, or riding a bicycle... you'll never ever forget it. You can recall the skill when you need to use it. And I need to convince hubby on that because I need to spend another RM650 to make full use of the machine and instill that skill in me. And the machine's cost is more than RM2k which I got for free!
