Lesson learnt...
When we lost our House of Briyani, these are what we have learnt...
1. Never do business with family members, the closer they are,the more you should not get involved!
2. Always set-up the business closer to you - where you can drop by anytime of the day, everyday.
3. There are many people that will help you when you don't need one, but nobody is willing to walk with you when you really or desperately need one.

Conflict of HoB
For our partner of House of Briyani....
Actually bila kitorang balik tengok kedai, memang ader banyak benda nak discuss, including account, operation, stocks, staff issues… but then selalunya bila balik keadaan tu tak begitu sesuai sebab team selalu dlm keadaan pressure… so, what we do is let yong sort things on her own, bukan nak tinggal terus, tidak… Cuma nak beri kebebasan kepada yong untuk manage the restaurant the way she likes it, the way she comfortable with. kalau ada masalah, then kita boleh discuss. Masalahnya, banyak masalah yang korang hadapi kitorang tak tau… so, ingatkan sumer ok… mungkin ada miscommunication atau misunderstanding somewhere between the lines.
Kalau dalam sebulan ni yong 2-3 kali menangis, sepanjang 7 tahun saya kerja ni, tak terkiralah berapa kali saya menangis (I started my career by crying, kalau korang nak tau...first day posting, on the way balik rumah dah nangis dah) that is the reality of a real working world. kena pressure dengan boss, dengan situation, rasa guilty dengan staff, rasa buat salah, kena bantai dengan kontraktor, kerja susah, tak reti nak buat….etc.. but everytime when it happened, it made me grow even stronger… (banyak kali nangis yang shahril tak tau, sebab nangis kat ofis, dalam bilik air, hehehe, yang mana tak puas nangis kat ofis jer, sambung balik kat rumah…hahahah), we all have to learn and start from the beginning…. Take every difficulty as a challenge in our life… memang bukan semua benda menyebelahi kita, yg kita suker, we have to accept that. Tapi kalau kita berjaya tempuhi sumer ni, insya-allah, semuanya akan berakhir dgn kemanisan… saya selalu cakap dengan my team kat ofis and contractor - bila keadaan tengah susah… “just hanging there, sooner or later, everything will pass us by, and when we look back, we all can have a good time and laugh”
Saya memang tak pandai nak bercakap, jenis yang cakap direct to the point and very open. kalau kat ofis ni pun, orang panggil saya makcik.. sebab kat ofis, saya ni boss pompuan yang cerewet dan garang.. hehehehe... tapi itu kat ofis, melayan bebudak technician or junior engineer, yang sumernya lelaki (terpaksala firm, kalau tak kena pijak)…. so, di hari baik, bulan baik ni saya minta maaf terlebih dahulu kalau ada statement yang menyinggung perasaan.
Salam Ramadhan…& Selamat Hari Raya..

My Very Own Restaurant

Last Sunday really marked a new turning point in my life. My hubby and I launched our very first restaurant a.k.a real business in our life. It's called "House of Briyani".
This is the result of years of dreaming and 6 months business research! One thing that I've learnt during the process is if you have anything in your mind that you really want to do, then JUST DO IT! You won't regret. For me this is the start of the making of millionaire.
My final destination is to be a franchisor – utk meletakkan house of briyani setaraf dgn secret recipe, the chicken rice shop, Kenny rogers, Laksa Shack etc.
I want the place to have a ‘brand’. Bukan setakat makan sedap & affordable but it must be branded. Kalau cakap pasal briyani mesti kena pergi house of briyani. Kalau cakap pasal special breakfast, mesti pergi house of briyani.
The next thing important thing is the menu. We have to select our menu carefully because it will bring up the image and brand of the place. Alhamdulillah, He sent me a team of dedicated youngsters, which deep in my heart I want to train them to be part of my team. Not just a counter staffs.
The next thing is presentation. What I have in mind is to have a standard uniform, a label on take-away container, a labeled plastic bag..
We also do periodic promotion –- set menu, voucher, etc..
Kalau boleh, nak increase on marketing, but of course we need to be stable first, nanti tak terdaya pulak. Buat pamphlet color, masuk radio, panggil wartawan buat review, masuk ekspo… things like that.
Then, the management issue. The management should be acceptable office standard.
That is my plan for this business. Not just a kedai makan…
The timeline… in 3 years time. Org cakap the journey of thousand miles start with the first step, so kalau kita dah tau the destination, I believe the steps we take should bring us towards that.
Our target market is for those who love to eat, want a good food, good service and cozy place.
